Ropes course & zip line FAQs

Dress however you're most comfortable doing something physical. Closed-toe, closed-heel athletic shoes or boots are required. Keens aren't considered closed-toe and aren't permitted.

Climbers must be at least 10 years old, at least 4'9" tall and under 250 lbs (subject to harness fit). Ages 10–11 need one participating adult chaperone for every 2 kids (ages 12+ don’t need one), and a legal guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under 18.

Guests of average fitness can complete our yellow and green courses. If you can hold your own body weight or do three push-ups in a row, you're best suited for blue and black. The four levels let everyone choose their challenge.

Yes, bring a water bottle and snacks. Food isn't allowed on the course itself. Please clean up after yourself. Alcohol and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited.

We sell bottled water, sports drinks and T-shirts. There's a full-service restaurant in the golf club clubhouse for after your climb.

We have a few, but we suggest locking valuables in your car. Other items can stay on our tables while you climb.

Yes, there are 4 courses of different difficulty, and all 4 are included with the Adventure Pass.

They're color-coded. Yellow builds beginner skills and confidence, green pushes beginners and builds confidence for intermediate climbers, and blue and black challenge everyone mentally and physically.

Once you show you can use the equipment, you're free to explore on your own. Staff are always on hand on the ground and in the trees. A personal guide is available for an added fee. Call ahead to arrange one.

Not right now. All 10 zip lines are built into the courses. A standalone zip line course is in the works.

Canopy was built and operates in accordance with the standards of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT).

Yes. Every climber wears harnesses and gear that meet or exceed industry standards. Our smart belay system makes it impossible, under normal use, to become unclipped, and every climber trains and practices before going into the trees.

We run on time slots so everyone gets plenty of time on the course. Arrive 15 minutes early to park, walk down and check in. If you're late, the missed time can't be added back, or you may need to take the next available slot.

No. Reserve in advance online or by phone, usually at least a few hours before an open slot.

Yes, for groups of 10 or more, with at least 2 days' notice. Call or email for your rate. We also offer packages for corporate outings and birthday parties.

We climb rain or shine, but close for severe weather such as high winds, thunder, lightning or ice. We don't offer refunds, but we'll reschedule if we close. If severe weather hits mid-climb, we'll bring you down and give you a rain check.

No-shows forfeit the booking and can't be refunded or rescheduled, since we couldn't fill the spot.

Yes, if you stop before the end of the safety training. Once you move on to the self-guided course, the ticket is no longer refundable.

Hours vary with the season. The booking calendar is the best place to see current availability.

About 15 miles, or roughly 25 minutes. We're technically in Powhatan County, but our address is Midlothian.

In the large lot in front of the golf clubhouse. Follow the signs for North Campus and Canopy Adventure Park. It's a quarter-mile walk.

We have limited accessible parking. Let us know in advance so we can direct you.

It's difficult to accommodate everyone, but with direct assistance some guests with physical disabilities may complete parts of the course. Contact us in advance for a brief conversation to see what will work.
